Joint Injections & Pain Shots

Joint injections are used to deliver steroids directly into a joint, such as a knee, hip, ankle, wrist or shoulder.  Steroid joint injections can help with pain and swelling by treating the underlying joint inflammation and improvement is often fast.  The risks for joint aspirations and injections are minimal. Infection, bleeding, and other major risks are rare.  Pain shots - Toradol is an injectable NSAID used for short term treatment of moderate to severe pain.  It is also used off-label to treat migraine pain

Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy

Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) is a set of hands-on techniques used by osteopathic physicians (DOs) to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury.  OMT uses techniques including stretching, gentle pressure and resistance to move a patient’s muscles and joints. When appropriate, OMT can complement, and even replace, drugs or surgery.  OMT techniques can help treat structural and tissues abnormalities, relieve joint restriction and misalignment, restore muscle and tissue balance, and promote overall blood flow throughout the body.

Occipital Nerve Block

An occipital nerve block is a procedure that involves injecting pain-relieving medication and steroids into your greater and lesser occipital nerves.  Occipital nerve blocks are primarily used to treat headaches and chronic migraines.  The injection is done at the back of the head, just above the neck.  Pain relief can occur within 15 minutes of the block. For those who experience relief, the duration of the therapeutic response varies widely from a day or so up to several months.
